At Rothesay Bay Veterinary Clinic, the motto is “Where clients are friends and pets are family”.
Vet Tristan Davies and his wife Carolyn, the clinic’s practice manager, understand the significance of pets in family life, and their focus is all about keeping animals well and happy.
The couple designed their new clinic to make sure that pets’ experience is as enjoyable and stress-free as possible by providing high-quality veterinary services in a warm and caring environment.
Tristan and Carolyn have strong roots in the local area and live near the clinic with their young children. They have converted the quaint building that was formerly doctors’ rooms into a superb clinic, retaining the character and flow of the building while incorporating the latest veterinary equipment and technology.
Head vet nurse Jo Kennedy is a highly experienced professional and great with animals – her friendly dog Tess is often at work with her, waiting to greet clients.
Tristan promotes preventative medicine and wellness as well as quality diagnostic, surgical and emergency care for pets of all ages. After completing his BVSc, he worked extensively as a vet here and in the UK. He especially enjoyed a period working in a small country practice and caring for the needs of the variety of animals that a rural vet comes across.
The full range of services at Rothesay Bay Vets includes consultation, annual health checks, vaccinations, surgery, x-rays, flea and worm products and advice, and after-hours emergency care. This last service is a real point of difference for this clinic. No matter what the time is Monday to Friday, Tristan will come to the clinic to treat pets needing urgent attention.
The clinic stocks a full range of quality pet food including prescription diet food for animals with special requirements. It also offers holistic consultations with Dr Lyn Thomson, BVSc DipHom, by appointment on Tuesdays, and is a supplier of Raw Essentials pet food.

Erin says "If you’re on Auckland’s North Shore and you need a vet I can’t recommend Tristan and Jo highly enough. Of course, they are great at their jobs but just as important is their friendliness and compassion. Tristan is really easy to talk to and can always be reached on the phone and Jo is knowledgeable and helpful and unflappable!
And a rare thing ... Tristan does his own after-hours emergency care so when disaster strikes outside normal clinic hours your pet still gets to see the vet who knows its history. I think that’s comforting in an emergency. Oh, and when you’re really in a state, they make a good cup of tea ;-)."
