HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Inspectors cover from TeHana to Towai and are on call 24/7 for emergencies and investigation of welfare concerns. Our centre houses and cares for the seized, stray, unwanted and abandoned animals. We actively pursue the prosecution of those who mistreat animals. Whangarei SPCA runs ongoing education programs for schools and community groups and we are involved in pet visits to rest homes.
OUR TRACK RECORD
In 2010 Whangarei SPCA Inspectors investigated 800+ complaints of animal cruelty and neglect. We attended 160+ animal emergencies, and we had 2,500+ animals brought into our centre. Many of these were desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and rehomed. We desexed 900 animals for low income families, and 309 people attended our community Drop-in Centre for help and advice.
All this is done without funding from local council or government.
